Refractometres are used in a lot of fields like testing sugar content of grapes in vineyards or salinity in a marine fish tank so they can be bought quiete cheaply if your practice doesn&amp;#39;t have one already. I am not sure above which pH the protein reading is affectected. Alkaline urine is normal in herbivores, this unfortunately can interact with the protein field on the dip stick and give a false positive reading for protein. I would send a urine sample for urinalysis including sediment. Does the rabbit have access to a salt lick block or chalk? Just some thoughts, I am not a rabbit expert.
