&lt;p&gt;at 3wks they will be taking solid food but they usually take an absolute minimum of 25 days to wean, and if left naturally (as they have been up till now) then it takes 6 weeks so they won&amp;#39;t be ready to go onto solids completely at this stage. Offer moistened pellets and water ad lib but also be prepared to feed a couple of times daily for the next couple of weeks. 50% evaporated milk and 50% boiled water is the recommendation of Richard Saunders, a chinchilla guru!&lt;/p&gt;
