He asked me about prevention of problems with processionary caterpillars that are still on the move at that time.
I have found a lot about the problems they cause: urticaria

Re: Processionary Caterpillars

[quote user="Claudia Niehoegen"]My client asked about apis tablets as a first aid measure while arranging a vet visit.
It won't do any good though. Study after study show no benefit. I no longer pander to people - I explain they have been tested and don't work. If the products worked then studies would confirm that.

Re: Processionary Caterpillars

I live in an area where there are loads of 'em in the south of France. The nests are easy to spot in fir trees (my neighbour has some in hers), thus you could advise the owner to steer clear of those trees, but seriously ; not a common problem. The nests look like candy floss on the ends of the branches. Definitely don't stop walking in the forests! More chance of being run over by a bus... not in forests though...

Re: Processionary Caterpillars

have a shar pei that did loose 1/2 its tongue - Spanish vets onto it with massive a/infl and covering abs but didn't make any difference but then in the same breath the dog doesn't seem to have noticed either - eats & drinks fine.
