A pet shop owner has just contacted me about "Rotastak" milk drops. They sell them in the pet shop and they're basically a yoghurt with added sugar. They're marketed as being suitable for rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice and rats

Re: Milk drops for guinea pigs

I agree with Evelyn and would be equally worried about feeding herbivores sugary snacks and the impact on their teeth.

1) Be brave and tell the pet shop owner she's a dork selling this crap,

2) then go through the rest of her stock 90% of which is probably crap as well,

3) next wait while she tells her customers not to come to you,

4) rest easily in your bed at night because you'd told the truth.

Re: Milk drops for guinea pigs

I don't know the scientific answer but feeding milk sugar drops to adult rabbits, g.pigs etc sounds daft. I hear they like grass and hay....

Re: Milk drops for guinea pigs

I'd be worried about the "added sugar" too.

Re: Milk drops for guinea pigs

Honestly not sure but when I have used baby food in years gone by for rabbits/Guinea pigs I have always advised to make sure they don't have milk in.
