Help!

Last night an emergency call. People had rabbit loose in the house as well ass ratpoison laying about. Bunny ate it. Now what?
Am I right to think that since rabbits can't vomit it can wait until daytime, then maybe feed it vitamin K for a fortnight

Re: Rabbit ate ratpoison.
I think the idea is that the rats eat it daily and eventually accumulate a toxic dose.

Re: Rabbit ate ratpoison. But it would make vitamin K even more important as their normal source of vitamin k is from the caecotrophs. So you wouldn't want to stop it for too long. I think low fibre material has an average transit time of around 20hrs, so hopefully you would only need to stop caecotrophy for one day.

The exotic formulary gives a dose of 1-10mg/kg IM as needed for vitamin K.

Re: Rabbit ate ratpoison. VPIS said a dog needed to eat 100g/kg (!) for it to be toxic, then the effect would start 3 days after ingestion. They said they had no info about bunnies but advised to keep a good eye on it, and maybe prevent it from eating caecotrophs to prevent recycling of the poison.

Looks like it should probably be fine....
