&lt;p&gt;1. was he re-xrayed at pin removal? Was there a tension band wire that may be irritating the tissues (not sure if removed with the pin)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2. joint taps in case some rumbling low grade infection&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;3. some sort of spinal problem.
