Found inside cat.

I did an ex lap on a cat that had eaten a sewing needle and thread. Needle and thread had caused no damage and still in SI but when I did a thorough search before I closed I found this small lump thing. It was completely free-floating, about 1cm across

Re: What is this?
I will ask the owner if they want it send off - I said I would ask around first in case some had an idea of what it is. No biopsies taken at the time as 'routine' ex lap - really the simplest linear foreign body ever, but the cat had only eaten it less than an hour previously.

Re: What is this? They can be mineralised sometimes and show up on rads as possible mineral FB (we had one that we were convinced was a tooth once..). They are usually of no significance but if you're sending anything else off for histo I'd send this as well to be sure,

I seem to remember getting this back as the histology report several years ago. But of course the language was more prosaic.

Seen several since, with little consequence by ignoring them.

Re: What is this?
