A man brought in a sample of chicken faeces for me to look at. He tells me that he has been seeing things moving in the droppings. He only sees them when the droppings are fresh, they are tiny yellow blobs with a black

Re: moving things in chicken faeces

[quote user="Sammy82"]

They have turned out to be maggots or non-parasitic worms - clearly the faeces weren't as fresh as they though they were.

Another in the summer reckoned he was getting bitten by fleas from a cat that sleeps on the soft top of his car. He brought the car in for me to show me the little white bits on the roof that he claims are their eggs. I took an acetate strip and looked under the microscope and the bits were pollen grains. He didn't believe me and still bought a can of flea spray!

And to top the lot of nutters, I had a letter today from a complete random I don't know asking me if cow's urine was the same as cow's milk. And if so should people not wash their hands after touching milk when they did after touching urine? He didn't say if he drank milk or not!

I'm getting enough to write another book!!

Re: moving things in chicken faeces

Tapeworm segments?

If it's only on fresh faeces then he can video it and show it to your u, may help shed some light?

Re: moving things in chicken faeces

Thanks. I'm glad it's not just me thinking this sounds strange. he sounds very convincing about what he is seeing but I could not think of anything to fit his description either.

I've told him to check them again a few days after the panacur and get back to me if he is still seeing these things. If he is I'll see them in the new year.

Re: moving things in chicken faeces

Odd, I can't think of anything that fits. Definitely worth getting one in - they usually poo on the consult table and you can then see for yourself. (Or realise he is mental and you're now trapped in a consult room with him...)
