I have a patient that I think I need to start on potassium citrate as dietary management is not alkalinising the urine pH enough.
I have ordered the only one seemingly available through centaur, and something called 'tri-potassium citrate BP

Re: potassium citrate for dogs?

Thanks for all the replies.

I've managed to get hold of the solution through NVS, so hopefully i'll be able to work out a dose for the patient.

This is a powder though so not sure how I can apply the mg/ml to it? I wonder if there is a solution available through other suppliers that would be easier to use.

Find a jug with a 100ml graduation on it, weight out 30g of powder in the jug, add water up to 100ml graduation, should give you a 300mg/ml solution.

Re: potassium citrate for dogs?
I wonder if there is a solution available through other suppliers that would be easier to use.
NVS sell 'Potassium citrate mixture 200ml', there is also apparently a product called Cystospurin. Maybe your local pharmacy can help you out or perhaps you should contact the manufacturer of your powder.

Re: potassium citrate for dogs?

This is a powder though so not sure how I can apply the mg/ml to it? It also says potassium citrate BP is a 30% oral solution which I guess means 300mg/ml but you'd best work that out yourself so you can't blame me.
