Therefore I spend quite a bit of my time monitoring

Re: Post-operative analgesia at home
Oh I see. Thank you for the clarification! :-)

Re: Post-operative analgesia at home

Sorry Francisco if I was unclear. It is only with Recuvyra use that there is a mandatory hospitalisation due to the risk to the owner.I think I have read in the UK it is 48 hours? Not sure if there is a different rule here, or whether I picked up the figure wrongly. I had a very brief discussion yesterday with a colleague and we will discuss the possibilities in more detail tomorrow. To be absolutely clear, we are not using Recuvyra presently, therefore the rule does not apply.

Also been reading up today. Peri-operative analgesia might be improved by using the methadone in combination with the medetomidine as a pre-med instead of butorphanol. Any other experiences/considerations would still be very much appreciated.

Re: Post-operative analgesia at home
Post-operatively, it seems to be the norm for animals to be discharged very soon after surgery.

I understand that for dogs over 20kg, there is a mandatory 24 hour inpatient rule here in Norway (i.e. they would have to stay in overnight).
Are you saying that they don't follow the rules and therefore they are all liable for negligence or that a 19kgs dog goes home very early and a 21kgs dog goes home the next day?? Sorry I don't really understand that bit.
