The glucose curve showed semi-adequate control, with a nadir of 16.5mmol/L. Fructosamine showed fair control (456umol/L), and the decision was made to increase

Re: Interpreting Fructosamine

Was the same analyser and assay used for fructosamine? How is the cat clinically? If well in self, owners have no concerns, weight is stable and pu/pd controlled then I wouldn't worry too much about what the fructosamine is doing.

Re: Interpreting Fructosamine

Prob had a couple of bad days. Missed dose, extra food....etc. I'd sit tight and retest 2-3 weeks. After asking if mother in law/granny/brother...... Visited and fed it 3 tins of tuna a day.

Re: Interpreting Fructosamine

A cat?

Remember the fructosamine is an average over 2-3 weeks. If the cat seems ok and given a good curve I'd wait it out a fortnight and repeat.

Personally I found the glucose curves and clinical response more useful than serial fructosamine.
