Hi all, thanks very much for your opinions, very sorry for not replying earlier but I only work one day a week and have been away!

The owners declined referral and so was started on steroids after negative toxo and neospora results. he has had a gradual improvement and is nearly normal now except for tiring easily so is being weaned off the steroids and we'll see how he goes.

I agree, there's something not right with the atlas, is there a fracture/compression of the spinal cord there? Would go a long way towards explaining symptoms - I would be referring this as a matter of urgency.

Really not an orthobod but is there a degree of atlantoaxial sublux perhaps? Do you have an orthogonal cervical view? I'd be asking for a 2nd opinion too to be honest.

Not an expert, but x-rays look unremarkable to me. Given the age and symptoms, I'd look into metabolic or toxicity issues...
