I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for alternative, non topical treatment for dry eye?
I have a 10yr old cocker spaniel which I have recently diagnosed with dry eye after brandishing my magic false eyelashes, I mean, STT strips!
yes standard dose rate

Re: Alternative treatments for CKS?

it may be a case for a PDT op.

Re: Alternative treatments for CKS?

Sorry didn't read the OP properly, I guess my suggestion is not overly helpful other than the amount you need is so tiny they may have more chance of poking the little blighter in the eye with a cotton but than trying to hold it open while they drop in the ointment. However Protopic is expensive and in limited supply.

Re: Alternative treatments for CKS?

At e same dose rates as you would use for atopy? The owner put it in once a day with a dab on a cotton bud. It transformed the eye which was non-responsive to cyclosporin but read the comments in Andy's link above.

Re: Alternative treatments for CKS?

Hi Tracy,

there was a previous thread on a similar topic, see http://www.vetsurgeon.org/forums/p/17343/103121.aspx#103121

but in brief, yes oral cyclosporine seems to have equivalent action to topical in most dogs so would be worth a try.
