When x-raying discovered this odd rounded trianular opacity which appears partially over the femur on the VD hip view. It may be myositis ossificans, muscle inflammation leading to bone formation, which I think has been reported in cavaliers. Unless it's an odd tumour like an osteosarcoma. Biopsy?
As I can't palpate anything in this area, I would be worried that I may cause more harm than good trying to biopsy, and may be difficult to ensure am biopsying the right area. I don't think this is what is causing the dog's lameness, and I would rather avoid steroids if at all possible given his ongoing weight problems....

Any other ideas?
