No, that I haven't seen with ovarian issues? Could she have thermal burns (and have literally cooked the follicles if chronic/extreme temperatures??)? Or a separate skin pathology? Very odd case...

Yes. The skin had also discoloured over the area- it had turned white. Is that something that often happens?

Oh dear. Was it a firm, pale yellow lump? Sometimes the yolks all congeal (and slowly rot) in chronic cases and can enlarge to envelop the adjacent vena cava. These are usually horribly septic animals by this stage but being reptiles just pretend they're fine until we intervene!

At least you tried and did what was fair and reasonable for her. Plus you got some experience so when the next one comes along you won't be fazed by the GA!

Negative outcome, I'm afraid. I was so upset last night. We managed the anaesthesia well, including giving propofol in to the ventral coccygeal vein; we had a doppler taped over her heart, sent a kennel assistant out to buy live food etc. I don't know if it would have been operable in more skilled hands (referral declined), but the mass/ovary (anatomy not immediately apparent) was far too big and vascular. PTS on the table, so at least she did not know anything about it.
