When I first qualified over 20 years ago Synulox etc were very much second line antibiotics and used a lot of Trimethoprim. Do you find many side effects (I used to get the odd lame dog after 3 days and I simply warned the owner to stop if there were issues)

Doxy - there's another thread on this - I would use willingly were it not for the ridiculous mark up that is Ronaxan.

Personally, would reach for the tmps. Very good pulmonary/bronchial penetration. Can use SID dosing. List of possible side effects is long, but as a hardened charity vet who hands it out like sweeties, I have yet to see any of them.

Find amoxiclav fine in most cases, but would normally opt for around 20mg/kg for pulmonary issues.

I would steer well clear of fluoroquinolones, partly from a responsible usage viewpoint (esp with the wide sensitivity you have) and partly because the effects on cartilage can be permanent. Last resort in a case like this, for me.

I've used loads in juvenile large animals and never seen the yellow teeth. Would it actually matter if they were yellow?

Re: Pasteurella Multocida in a puppy

True, but slightly limited as

Enrofloxacin affects articular cartilage

Oxytet even if cures will give a permanant reminder of me with the yellow teeth as still growing (or is this an urban myth?)

I'd be reaching for oxytet if this was my case.

My understanding was penicillins don't get into lungs anywhere near as well as tetracyclines.
