The rabbit is an entire male, 6y.o., bright, eating well, very occasional sneeze with very mild unilateral nasal discharge. Was brought in as owners were checking around bottom (not been checked

Re: Rabbit scrotum

Rabbit syphilis usually results in swollen red oedematous and possibly ulcerated external genitalia, also lips and eyelids possibly involved too. it is highly contagious so in-contacts usually share signs. i haven't seen a case for a long time and it is possible a more chronic presentation might look how you describe...

The lesions you describe don't push my buttons for syphilis - can you get some pictures? I'm thinking calcinosis cutis, sebaceous accumulations, possible pustules, but without pictures....

Re: Rabbit scrotum

Unfortunately no photos as I didn't decide until that evening to post on here (told owner I would discuss with other vets but was initially planning a phonecall).
Haven't seen an actual case of rabbit syphilis before-would the lesions not be ulcerated though?
Thanks for replies.

Re: Rabbit scrotum

+1 for rabbit syphilis

Re: Rabbit scrotum

Could it be syphylis?
