A comprehensive biochemistry and haematology revealed nothing significant except a slightly low PCV.

Re: Blue Urine Test Strips in a Cat

very dilute aklaine urine can give you those colours - the alkaline urine can also give you a false positive protein reading. However a low ionic level but high protein in alkaline urine will also do this!

pH has to be around 9.0 to turn the pH indicator that blue.

SG reading on dipsticks are unreliable as they only measure soluble cations not non-ionic solutes like proteins, glucose and urea. Did you run a refractometer SG as well? Did it suggest a higher SG? Urine protein loss??

My guess is something like renal tubular acidosis....infection?? At 12yrs neoplasia has to be fairly high up the Ddx.

In acute distal tubule damage the urine concentration can plummet before UREA and CREA elevate.

Re: Blue Urine Test Strips in a Cat

can't promise to be of any help, but can you specify the precise brand of dipstick?

also asking in case any other details on the urine such as "SG" on a refractometer, pH meter measurement or urine sediment?

how was the urine collected?

how long after collection was it analysed?

were these 3 x separate urine samples or 3 x tests on same sample?

Is either a sample of the urine or a living cat still in existence?
