just wandering how people are getting on using apoquel? I haven't used it yet and am trying to persuade my boss to order some in for the shelf so we can try this instead of steroids on the next itchy dog that comes through the door.
That is probably, and hopefully, true.
Pred's got it all the way, no side effects at all, comparatively.

Adverse reactions: Administration of single high doses are generally tolerated well, but medium to long term use may provoke reactions.

Corticosteroid therapy may lead to increased time in the healing of wounds and to a reduction in the ability of the body to resist infection. Appropriate anti-infective therapy may be required.

Use during pregnancy and lactation: Corticosteroids are not recommended for use in pregnant animals. Studies in laboratory animals have shown that administration during early pregnancy may cause foetal abnormalities. Administration during the later stages of pregnancy may cause abortion or early parturition.

Insignificant amounts of prednisolone are generally eliminated in the milk of lactating animals, and therefore such use is not contraindicated.

Interactions: There are no known interactions of significance in veterinary medicine.

Overdose: Signs of overdosage should be treated symptomatically.

Incompatibilities: There are no known incompatibilities.

Don't worry Mark, I'll stay retired, but just imagine if Apoquel had been going as long as steroids and "Pred" was introduced as the new wonder drug.

I'd love to hear and see the reactions to all the side effects of Apoquel which you are all supposed to warn clients about; they'll never let you use it!

Clinical observations that were considered likely to be related to oclacitinib treatment included: alopecia (local), papilloma, dermatitis, erythema, abrasions and scabbing/crusts, interdigital "cysts", and oedema of the paws. Dermatitis lesions were mostly secondary to the development of interdigital furunculosis on one or more paws during the study; the number and frequency of observations increased with increasing dose. Lymphadenopathy of peripheral nodes was noted in all groups and increased in frequency with increasing dose, and was frequently associated with interdigital furunculosis. Papilloma was considered treatment related, but not dose related.
