He presented to me today like this! ( Hopefully link to video attached.)
NAD on exam. The chattering will stop if he's told to stop for a few seconds. It gets worse with stress or excitement

Re: Westie very weird chattering jaws, could it be paroxysmal dyskinesia?

Myoclonus related to distemper?

Re: Westie very weird chattering jaws, could it be paroxysmal dyskinesia?

Hi I'm ok with the gulping Shih Tzu, I've had him on phenobarb. That video was taken in 2011, it's just for comparison to the Westie. Who genuinely is called Fido! Teeth and TMJs seem fine, admittedly I haven't sedated him to have a proper look but I managed a reasonable exam in between chattering episodes. I guess phenobarb for him too then unless anyone has any other ideas?

To be honest I can't think of anything other than trying something like phenobarb or pexion. I assume his teeth are ok and the mandibular joints although it would be an odd pain reaction.

Re: Westie very weird chattering jaws, could it be paroxysmal dyskinesia?
I'm currently treating a Shih Tzu that gets episodes of uncontrolled licking and gulping. I think the Shih Tzu has paroxysmal dyskinesia and he's responded well to phenobarbitone.
I can't get video to work on my computer (likely issues with my firewall), but I'd add phenobarbital-responsive sialadenosis to the differential list for any dog licking and gulping and responding to phenobarbital.

Re: Westie very weird chattering jaws, could it be paroxysmal dyskinesia?

A real dog called Fido.
The above is the shih tzu in 2011. He's doing well on phenobarbitone. I was thinking the Westie seems similar? Any ideas?
