Sometimes the flood is useful to rapidly demonstrate the presence/or absence of a patent naso-lacrimal duct but I guess you could spot a bit onto a cotton bud then apply if you only want a tiny bit. Unless I'm missing something (and I don't think I am) I don't find it an issue spotting subtle corneal changes. I look at the eye under a magnifying Woods light and assume everyone else does so the combo of UV and magnification means you don't miss anything.

Re: Fluorets
We can't get the fluoret strips
Same question actually! We can't get the fluoret strips, and tried to order in some more fluorescein solution instead. However they don't have the normal 1%, we can only get 2%. What's the difference? Do I need to use it differently or dilute it at all?
It seems Bausch and Lomb stopped making fluorets last year - optometrists seem to be very concerned, one even dubbing the day it was anounced "Orange Monday"! They also mention the problem with minims breaking up the tear film. and making it harder to see subtle lesions.
