If had my way all breeders would be blindfolded and shot at dawn and all pet animals neutered but then I would have no patients so it would be a bit self-defeating.

Give the advice on Alizin and potential side effects but personally I'd suggest letting it go to term and make sure all the kittens are neutered so they can't further propagate any dodgy mutations.

And tell that son that there is probably a field full of perfectly eligible sheep down the road.

Re: Misalliance in a cat

Also; given it is a breeder client if Alizin is used be very careful to point out it is off licence and warn of the possible risks of pyometra and possible reduced future fertility. Very rarely necessary to abort the cat and nothing is licenced, but Alizin is most commonly used (as Martin suggested). They also still use Lutalyse (Dinoprost) here, although I don't have the protocol with me at the moment. (Off this weekend, but can find out if you need it.)

After finding all this out for the client, they decided to have the kittens, so I can't tell you what the outcome is. Sorry.

(In this case the ginger tom from next door got through the window and had relations with the fancy imported queen... )

Re: Misalliance in a cat

Any evidence on subsequent breeding performance in queens given drugs to prevent or terminate pregnancy?

Just imagine the scenario when said [valuable] queen fails to come on heat ever again, remember the owner is a "cat breeder".......

Re: Misalliance in a cat

Of course it is, and I strongly advised her against it, but advising a breeder to spay is a bit of a fool's errand I usually find.
