And when would you start? And how would you monitor? (how often would you check haematology for bone marrow suppression?).
Look forward to hear from you,

Bouts of fever either self resolve in 12-24 hrs but also respond to nsaids to get temp down.

I think that if there are repeat episodes of fever it makes them more likely to get early renal failure.

Long term colchicine use should be monitored with haematology reg. but apparently most usual side effect is GI problems.

The best thing to monitor is urine protein-creatinine ratio to pick up renal disease early before there are sig. biochem changes.

I got all this from speaking to Peter Noble at Liverpool uni. he was v helpful if you want to know more.

Re: colchicine use in Sharpei fever
There is a vet in america who owns sharpeis
A vet who owns sharpeis?!

I looked into this some time ago, and came to the conclusion that the potential for adverse effects seemed to outweigh the potential benefits, but I too shall follow the thread with interest to see if anybody has any personal experience.

Re: colchicine use in Sharpei fever

i just saw one of these tonight. Ill keep an eye ob the thread.
