Regardless what you say to the farmer, he/she will use the astroturf anyway now its been bought (especially as its on the cheap).

As a smallies vet I can't add much to this conversation except to say I play a lot of tennis on astroturf and can say you get a lot of sand in your shoes and it takes the skin off your knees when you fall on it

I'd agree with Gerbil. I can't see they will last long. And I'd worry they might be slippery.

No experience but I would imagine that the load to surface area of a cows hoof would churn astroturf up if it wasnt made for the job. I used to find that firm rubber mats got worn pretty quickly so I would be worried it could not stay the course
