unfortunately pelvis became more and more painful and we had to PTS on Sunday :(

It's probably an anomaly. I don't think it's neoplastic as it's symmetrical and there's no bone reaction. It hasn't got HD - just some rotation on the vd. Looks fine on the lateral.

How old is the dog? How long has the dog been painful for? Weird to have pain and lameness and normal bloods, not even a stress response/inflammatory response on haematology...

That could be countered by the overlying bones of the pelvis and sacrum making it harder to visualise. I don't like the way this looks on VD. That's just me though.

I'd defer to Malcolm, but wouldn't have thought the gas shadow would eliminate visible bone altogether which this appears to have done.

Also on the animal's R side (L side of image) the cranio lateral margin of the obturator foramen looks to have an area of swelling although the animal is rotated slightly.

Has the digital radiograph been 'played with' to the point that you are seeing artifacts?

I have fiddled with some of our images to the point that some very bizarre pictures have emerged!

Have you got an orthogonal or other oblique views to exclude the possibility that you are just looking at a superimposed colonic gas shadow?
