Is it just cat and dog stones they analyse, or would they do one from a guinea pig too?

Re: Hills' stone analysis

Thanks, it is on it's way to Minnesota now. They analyse stones from all kinds of animals for free: http://www.cvm.umn.edu/depts/minnesotaurolithcenter/

Apparently turn around time is 12-14 days from arrival.

Re: Hills' stone analysis

the last one I sent to Hills (cat with an oxalate bladder stone) took about 3 weeks.

Re: Hills' stone analysis

Hi,

The Hills rep was in our practice this week, I did ask about submitting exotic bladder stones (as I am also doing my cert) but he said that they would not analysed it.

From what he was saying, still sending to the States but takes only 10-14 days now

Re: Hills' stone analysis

not sure as the others have said if they would do a GP, but just wanted to mention when I sent a stone through Hills in the last couple of months, the address/site of testing had completely changed and they no longer went to the US from memory- it may be worth contacting hills also.

Grandmother and sucking eggs, but I normally try and scrpae some stone off and have a look under a microscope - can make very pretty pictures - but obv wouldn't use this as sole diagnostic aid as can come back mixed.
