There have been 4 episodes since then, both ears and usually with a ruptured ear drum.

I saw the cat in oct last ear with otitis

Re: Cat with recurrent otitis

I would see if it settles and leave off ear cleaning as may set off trauma.

If further otitis soon I would do a LWR on both ears and continue to think about underlying allergic aetiology. LWR is a bit fiddly in a cat but can be very effective if good exposure of the horizontal canal achieved with a good flap

Re: Cat with recurrent otitis

I just linked to it from an online source.
Some plain radiographs in various directions should be really helpful before you think about going for the big CT. If they look all nice and clear, I'd maybe do nothing at all for a bit and give the tissues peace and quiet to settle down. Stop the home ear cleaning.

Beautiful diagram, James.

Re: Cat with recurrent otitis

CT might be a good idea if possible.

Cats have a shelf of bone separating the bulla which can make flushing difficult (impossible?) as such: label "Se"
