yes its banned and that is a huge problem when you have histomonas in chickens or turkeys.

Thanks for your quick replies (and for the reminder on annexes...not seen a farm animal for a few years and had forgotten this, but when it was mentioned it rang some very loud bells!)-I will pass on the info!

It is banned in food producing animals. Think it was called Annex IV, I had a link on the VMD site but they have moved the page and I can't locate it now.

Ooh...possibly! I haven't had to deal with chickens in ages but was asked by a colleague who was looking to use the drug if I knew/had any info on it...and I said I knew a great online forum I could ask!

It's a while since I have done any farm work but is metronidazole not on the banned list - ie anything receiving it would be permanently excluded from the food chain?
