Vaccinated, no clinical signs prior to sudden death, was laying on a bed, yelped and died suddenly. Came for post mortem later same day.
On post mortem exam: white froth in the

Re: Sudden death in 10 months Airedale Terrier

Consider maybe a sudden intra-cranial bleed? Probably towel cloth would not be toxic enough to cause sudden death given the size and that probably it was there for days to weeks. No lungworm larva seen inside the heart as well.

There were quite a lot of white froth in the trachea/bronchi - suffocation/sudden heart stop? or probably normal finding.

Owner did not want to go ahead with histology. Sorry but I forgot to take postmortem photos.

Heart itself looked fine: no gray/white patches in myocardium, no white thrombus present inside the chambers or pulmonary artery.

It is still a mystery to me why dog would die suddenly, as it is not the first time I am presented with a case like this.

I know truth is somewhere out there, maybe I am not meant to know it yet.

Re: Sudden death in 10 months Airedale Terrier

Lots of white froth could indicate peracute heart failure, may be worth sending heart muscle samples to a lab for histology.

Wouldn't think ulceration in the gut is normal - what did intestinal content look like?

Agree photos may be helpful :)

Re: Sudden death in 10 months Airedale Terrier

Got any pictures?

Re: Sudden death in 10 months Airedale Terrier

White froth is a normal finding in the lungs (surfactant).
