What are you all seeing?

Hello,
First post so be kind if this topic has been covered..-))

I'm interested to hear if any of you have seen parvo in the last few years.
If you have, were they puppies or adults, vaccinated or unvaccinated?

Some were typical V+/D+ all over everywhere, but I also saw a few where they were just quiet, off colour and a little bit of diarrhoea with no blood in it, though they came back parvo positive on a snap test.

We have 13 branches and so are very paranoid about spreading parvo around, we perhaps over use the snap tests but I'd rather be safe than sorry

Re: Parvo cases... Usually unvaccinated dogs or pups that are too young to vaccinate or only partially vaccinated. We've had one in a vaccinated young adult in the last 2 years that I can recall. The vaccine company were very good in paying for the interferon (and most everything else).

Lungworm? What's that? (We keep looking, but we haven't found it yet).

All clinics locally are doing a 16 week finish again and we haven't seen parvo in a vaccinated dog since they changed back to this finish.

the 5 dogs that developed parvo after an early finish were all around 9-12 months old at the time of developing it.

Re: Parvo cases... Occasionally there will be a little grouping all coming from the same area and we might see some older dogs sometimes ones that have had an initial course but not the first booster. That used to be more rottweilers but we do recommend an extra parvo in rotties now at 16 weeks.

Re: Parvo cases... I've seen so much parvo over the years as I've worked in charities.
I've spent a lot of time thinking about the wsava vacc guidelines... Esp the puppy MDA issues and data sheets.
I am wanting to keep up to date about the relative risks...
Were the older dogs that died vaccinated?

( you know how you get obsessed with certain diseases? don't get me started on lungworm... )

Re: Parvo cases... We did have a run of parvo in older pups (4-8 months old) after being vaccinated at 8 and 10 weeks a few years ago, but since changing our protocol to second vaccination at 12 weeks or 8, 10 and 16 weeks we haven't seen any more of these.
