I would be interested in a PHA webinar Mark, we don't see too many tortoises but they have always been an interest to me and I've done quite a bit of reading over the years. I have the app which is great but more info is always good!

You can sample 1% of bodyweight so if it weighs 500g you can take as much as 4-5mls!

However PALS will do a reptile profile on 0.3-0.5mls.

Collect into heparin tubes.

Do I need to send them somewhere special? I have sampled a tortoise once before for calcium levels when egg bound but it was much bigger than this one. Would estimate that this one is just about 10 cm... How much blood can I take? Thanks for all your advice.

Hi you need bloods on this tortoise to assess its hydration/metabolic status, Ive seen 4 torts today that Ive admitted for bloods and fluids. If you need to know how to take bloods, download my App if you can.
