I agree - the AHT seems to be the best source of information for this at the moment....

we haven't been officially told about the outbreak,

[/quote]

Nor will you be I'm afraid. The AHT updates are invaluable but unfortunately there are no official channels of notification as the disease is neither notifiable nor reportable. Horse-related internet forums are full of people suggesting they do useful things like ringing their vets to ask whether there have been cases in such-and-such a village or yard but unless the client choses to disclose the details publically (unlikely!) then the information is confidential and can't be released.

As far as I'm aware there are several cases in the SW - at least one horse in a dressage yard was euthanased with the neurological form. There is a confirmed case in Aberdeen which apparently had contratced EHV at the Myerscough Premier Leaugue dressage show. I suspect the documented cases however are a drop in the ocean compared to the internet gossip, panic-mongering and disinformation.

Stick with the AHT information!

Yes ditto - I work in Glos/Wilts but travel all over. I heard it started at the Heythrop in Feb and then a horse at Badminton recently with the Beaufort but I don't know if that horse went hunting, how many in-contacts there are and even if there have been neuro symptoms or just respiratory ones to date? I could be completely wrong but there seems to be a lack of co-ordination in what's going on (certainly when it comes to disseminating information) or has the proverbial horse bolted and EHV could be anywhere by now but nobody wants to admit to it? It doesn't bode well for future control if required ... I hope I'm getting the wrong impression.

Unless the boss has had a letter he's not told us about, we haven't been officially told about the outbreak, only by word of mouth through the vets and horse clients. I was aware of it about a month ago. I have made my horse clients aware of it too and symptoms to watch out for. I know at least one referral centre near the outbreak has been shut down to referrals (well it was 2 weeks ago). As far as I know, we haven't had any update.
