We are using the bottle of Aludex that we managed to snaffle and I will go for milbemycin if the response is poor. Don't ask me how, but spoke to a dermatologist re a difficult case of Demodex previously and he suggested Antirobe in conjunction with topical Malaseb/ Hibiscrub washes as well. Should be self limiting in a young dog (my case was a 8m old entire SBT), neutering may help.

Re: Demodecosis treatment

I've had success with milbemax cat in a 30kg ish bullidog after advocate weekly failed and aludex oos, but it worked out at 2 tablets a day which can be prohibitively expensive. Not had any experience with ivermectin but there's no reason why it shouldn't be a viable alternative to milbemycin if costs are an issue, but I agree that a chat about side effects should be had and MDR testing offered.

Re: Demodecosis treatment

Yes, and the cost of a special import license, then sourcing and Importing from France meant it worked out more costly than the milbemax.
We've used milbemax cat in a couple of cases on the advice of some CPD at Bristol Vet School. Cat version is used as much lower dose of praziquantel proportionately. Usual off-label chat and paperwork. Works very well, but always raises an eyebrow with the dispensing nurse!

[/quote] Useful tip but it would make it rather expensive for a big dog. I know I mentioned it earlier in the thread but haven't actually tried it but has anyone tried obtaining the unadulterated form of milbemycin (Interceptor)?
