&lt;p&gt;Yes- by far! You do have to use a slightly different technique to vicryl to prevent snapping - hard to explain but you kind of bend the suture over the needle holders when pulling and use a gently increasing pull.&amp;nbsp; If you &amp;#39;snatch&amp;#39; at it it will snap.&amp;nbsp; As Michael said, once it is pulled down it ain&amp;#39;t moving - unlike vicryl which unravels before your eyes! &lt;p&gt;I don&amp;#39;t like catgut for anything, find it horrible to work with and tie ligatures. I find it&amp;nbsp;breaks too easily. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
