I'm assuming this just refers to validated treatments for Giardia. Interesting that they should give a dosage for metronidazole in the cat, but only for ronidazole (and other related drugs) in the dog. I seem to remember that it's more easily available over there, so maybe they can just buy it in as a cheap generic.

I've never asked Nova for a price on 1000mg tablets (i.e. a small labrador), but I suspect they wouldn't be much more than the usual 80-100mg that we normally get processed for cats - the drug itself isn't that expensive, I think.

Anybody got any experience with Ipronidazole 'ad libitum' in drinking water?

Check for environmental/hygiene issues - this may be the cause of reinfection?

And remember to wash the back end during treatment to reduce the chance of reinfecting as the trophozoites stick to the perineum.

A third vote for a seven day course.

Also keep in mimd that there coule be concurrent disease, campy etc whoch could compound problems. If well in self i would do start with longer course fbz .

You need at least a week of fenbendazole I find. Sometimes it just keeps on coming back. I treated a labrador 3 times with both panacur and metronidazole before I finally got rid of it.

I suspect in these cases they could well be re-infection rather than failure to cure. I have little faith in 3 days of FBZ and usually go for a week long treatment.
