Also it has a large flabby tummy. It's a rescue from a petshop so not sure of age but it has had a litter a few months ago and was

Re: Bald guinea pig

Without wishing to steal a march on others who deserve the credit, I believe there will soon be a paper reporting mucometra and cystic ovaries when used in female GPs caused by deslorelin implants, highlighting the need to be aware of possible side effects of any drugs when used off licence.

Re: Bald guinea pig

I tried a Suprelorin implant in one pig.
cystic ovaries usually easily palpable, often MASSIVE. as you suspect should be top of your differential list.

Spay is great, owners commonly not keen as oft in older g.pigs. Chorulon jags often work very well, i give once wvery 3 weeks 3 occasions as/ when needed. works out quite expensive for client. Never seen s.effects other than big squeaks on admin.

Have tried suprerololin a few times. Don't rate it for this use. Fantastic for many other off lic. uses though.

if you confirm cystic ovaries, speying is usually the way to go.

HCG injections may help if the owners are dead against speying.

Get your scanner out to diagnose, take some blood uga if you get the chance.

Can you palpate cysts?
