Can anyone point me towards a good nebuliser. We have a kit for our anaesthetic machine and ICU but are looking for a portable unit that we can send home with owners.
We would want to be able to add medications. A quiet one would be

Re: Which Nebuliser?
Use it a lot - they are very useful for respiratory problems in a wide range of species. I have used ours in every bird from a budgie upwards, reptiles, rabbits & rodents. Much more "bang for your buck" than some other toys.
Good "bang for your buck" with this one. Like a smoke machine compared to other nebulisers that I have seen!

We will mainly nebulising F10, saline, bisolvon and Baytril as we have experience with these.

Has anyone got strong opinions/advice about what one should be nebulising, not nebulising and the associated doses?

Anyone use albuterol?

Yes, Ive used them for just this purpose.
Apart from lending them your ICU with the nebuliser attachment and a means of getting air/O2 under pressure into it, assuming you're treating respiratory disease, I'm thinking along the lines of a combination of AeroKat/AeroDawg inhalers for inhaled medication, a cat basket next to a bowl of steaming water for a cat/small dog or the shower/bathroom with a good fug up for larger dogs. I'm struggling to see the practicalities of anything else and what conditions you would envisage treating for the long term.

Hi Martin,

We would use mainly for rats/g.pigs. One of these types > http://evergreen-nebulizers.co.uk/mains/mains_omron.html?gclid=CKrhrpfPwrUCFZTHtAodNQ8AcA

Looking for one that would allow us to nebulise F10, 'roids etc.

Thanks for the input so far.

Re: Which Nebuliser?

I just went down to our friendly, local pharmacy and spoke to the pharmacist. We got a simple portable nebuliser for about £50 and put in the attachment that gives the smallest particle size. We do get a deposit for it when we lend them out but haven't had a problem yet. I think we have three currently.

I know that for nebulising birds it's important that the particle size it creates is small enough and this one seemed to fit in with that. Not sure what particle size or requirements you might need if it's for dogs and cats though.

Re: Which Nebuliser?

Apart from lending them your ICU with the nebuliser attachment and a means of getting air/O2 under pressure into it, assuming you're treating respiratory disease, I'm thinking along the lines of a combination of AeroKat/AeroDawg inhalers for inhaled medication, a cat basket next to a bowl of steaming water for a cat/small dog or the shower/bathroom with a good fug up for larger dogs.
