IME the main thing precluding use of all 4 of those is the cost rather than the dosing.

Re: Cardalis
Nothing special about combining two existing drugs into one tablet - hardly a top product or rocket science.
No, but 'heart' dogs can end up on a lot of different tablets and having one that combines two actives seems like a good idea in terms of owner compliance. It's not uncommon to have these dogs on pimobendan, ACE inhibitor, frusemide and spironolactone. You can hear them rattle.

Re: Cardalis

As these are long-term therapies we generally look at the cost for the client. There is a lot of competition between ACE inhibitors so at the moment we don't intend to change.

I was interested to see Cardalis appeared on the list of vets 'top products'. Nothing special about combining two existing drugs into one tablet - hardly a top product or rocket science.

Re: Cardalis

As ever with these survey things the tick box I want is not there. I remain unconvinced about the benefit of spironolactone and anyway object to paying through the nose for it when there is a generic version that was perfectly adequate for a hundred years until some bright spark at a pharmaceutical company saw the potential profit to be made by exploiting a back door to licencing it via the cascade and charging a premium without having to pay for original R&D. That said if I saw an advantage to using the combined product that justified the expense I would but so far I haven't.

Re: Cardalis

Still using the separate drugs, offered people the combination if they want to reduce the numbers of tablets, but there aren't the good deals on Cardalis that there are on 'generic' benazeprils, and by splitting larger size Prilactone tables the Cardalis is no cheaper than the two separates
