Just wondering if anyone anecdotally has any info on blood testing for rabies beyond the 30 days requested by the lab. I know there is a significant drop off in titres after 30 days, and that this doesn't relate to immunity. Have a cat going abroad and had a vaccine in 2011, will need booster as will be 12 months since last vaccine, but missing original bloods and wondering if we repeat the bloods now or post vaccination - which will add 3 months onto the date they can travel, AFTER the blood sample is taken.

Likely to vaccinate and then blood test at 30 days, but any info would be appreciated. MSD had no info on hand.

[/quote]

No ifno sorry - but why three months onto the date of travel? If you vacc now and blood test one month later you that is just one month surely. Also could do blood sample slightly early if they are desperate - 2 weeks may be sufficient in a prevaccinated animal - but chat to the lab about this.

Would that be sufficient? Also, where is the cat off to? And why the three month wait post sample? And the 12 month booster? Sorry, just curious!
