Hi,
Would appreciate your opinions on this ECG. I am not very good at ECG reading and there is no budget to send it. I cannot make out the nature of this arrhythmia. I think its supraventricular? At times it seems there is a P wave and then a T

Re: ECG reading
I needed to have a bit of patience to get this recording, because the first ECG recordings seemed regular normal sinus rhythm (as far as I can judge) with a rate of approximately 150/min. Which seems a bit fast for a trained dog lying relaxed on the table. Then after a while the arrhythmia appeared. I don't know what the heart rate was like the day before because it wasn't in the report.
I assume you are still waiting for the echo and X-rays - while you're at it look at the abdomen as well for masses, especially a splenic mass. Notwithstanding this, with your murmur I would do an NT-proBNP as well. I suspect this dog is a current status B2 cardiac failure and would have it on pimobendan and possibly spironolactone.

I may be completely off the mark but could it be 2nd degree AV block Mobitz type 2?
I thought this as well (but glad someone else had the courage to post first) but with a heart block the P-Q interval should be longer and overall rate should be slower and this doesn't explain why there is apparently a T wave but not R wave - could they be negative premature P waves? The fourth trace down is a worry with no QRS for several P waves, I guess that happening on the walk could have caused the dog to collapse and although there is only the odd VPC there may have been a run which led the first vet to think it was tachycardic. Enough of this amateur cardiology - where is Mike Martin when you need him?
