If drainage is really really required/desirable, a suction grenade/active drain for 2-3 days would be better than a needle centesis so the dead space has time to shrink down and tissue layers to stick to each other a bit. I would definitely not use a penrose drain. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This oviously increases costs, so if cat not bothered by it, my feeling is to leave it.
