Maybe concurrently but not sequentially. The last time I spoke to a drugs company about it they were of the opinion that concurrent use of 2 NSAIDs was no different than a double dose of one. Given that side effects seem to be idiosyncratic and dogs ate usually tested to many multiples of the normal dose for many days/ weeks I am much less worried

Did anyone bother to offer an explanation why changing from one drug to another would make the side effects more likely? Did any of these lecturers actually know? Maybe it's a myth, like "opioids send cats manic" as we were taught? I'm just trying to get you to question vet school dogma.

Personally I'm quite happy to do it the other way round, use carprofen peri- or post-operatively and follow with oral meloxicam at home.

Evelyn I was told using more than one kind of NSAID would increase the likelihood of side effects, eg GI signs like v+ d+ ulceration of intestinal/stomach mucosae etc...

Evelyn my Colleagues say they use this combination regularly without any problems but I have never done so and I feel a bit worried about adopting it....
