IDEXX do a general toxicology, which they send off to a lab in America where there are various drugs they test for - if you contact their customer services they'll direct you to the website which shows what they test for. Cost to a vet is £88.70.

A quick google search shows that ecstasy and amphetamines are often cut with theobromine and caffeine... and fake ecstasy pills are just pure caffeine. Evidence enough?

Sorry to drag this from the nether regions of the forum, but got the blood results back from the lab in America via IDEXX today. Mass spectral analysis detected theobromine and caffeine. Their conclusion: the dog 'has been exposed to chocolate'.

You can find drugs in hair also. At least for people, and I am sure the same would apply to animal hairs

You'd need to run a positive and negative control to be sure............

Did you get to speak to the lab people in the hospital. My mother is a biochemist and they do some in house and send some away. Getting the results should be easy on this little island of ours.
