I think Suprelorin is probably used more commonly in bitches to induce oestrus (removing it after the initial surge in LH/FSH) than medical neutering, but could be used for the latter - both off-label of course.

Our territory managers wouldn't promote off-licence use though so maybe it is something else or perhaps a discussion you had with someone other than a rep. If the former, it's definitely something I haven't heard of!

Cheers

I definitely wasn't thinking of delvosterone - I seem to remember the rep talking about an implant, like a chip, that could be used to manage seasons in breeding bitches.

Thanks!

It sounds like you are thinking of Suprelorin. It is only licensed for males but has been used off-licence in bitches. Suggest you speak to one of our vet advisors during office hours - 01359 243 243 select option 1.

Best wishes

I used to use it a fair bit for this (never for long term use as it seems to carry an increased incidence of pyometra) Unfortunately now they have wierdly introduced a throw the bottle away after a single use rule it is unaffordable for most clients. Bottles always used to work fine for at least a year.
