All good fun :) Current case is a MN ferret (age unknown, as is a rescue, but likely middle aged). Seen by a colleague a few times earlier in August with prominent L eyeball as if retrobulbar abscess

Re: Ferret with retrobulbar issues

thanks all. Hahaha, not quite sure what planet (or tipple) I was on re the x-ray of the soul bit, well spotted Evelyn ;)

Will see what I can do for this little critter, from what I have read 'proper' surgery is the way to go, but not sure my ferret anatomy is up to scratch enough!

Thanks for all the input!

Re: Ferret with retrobulbar issues

I saw a Pekingese which developed a zygomatic mucocoele after a fight with his brother - the exophthalmus was fairly spectacular - so much so I ended up having to suture his eyelids together to stop his eye falling out and keep the cornea lubricated enough. The treatment I'd read as suggested at the time was to use a blunt probe through a little stab incision near the molar to try to create drainage (getting the same clear gloop as you) - along with nsaids, it worked

Re: Ferret with retrobulbar issues
ah, that's something each of us needs from time to time. Some participants might need an xray to see if they have one at all.

Dunno about x-rays. Exorcism, more like.

Another great snippet of information gleaned from vetsurgeon. Thanks, Nix: the law of sod being what it is, I'll have seen one of these by the end of next week, and will now appear knowledgeable and competent.

Re: Ferret with retrobulbar issues
and x-rays of soul
