9yo ME Jack Russel presented by a very observant owner who had noticed a small mass between the right mandibular canine and incisor next to it. I wouldn't rush to change antibiotics without any deterioration in the patient. Monitor temp and murmur in a couple of days if it's fine at home.
I'd think it'd be unusual to develop infection from endocarditis that quickly, pre-existing sub clinical disease being exacerbated by ga and stress more likely maybe?

Re: New onset murmur after dental

[quote user="Jenny Smith"]I've asked the owner to come back in 2 weeks to re-auscultate and make any further plans from there.
Sounds like a good plan to me. I wouldn't hurry to change the antibiotic at this stage as amoxyclav is a good broad spectrum one and if dog is well and not pyrexic I wouldn't panic yet. It could still be transient. If murmur still present when you next examine the dog and the dog is still well, I would organise an echo

Re: New onset murmur after dental

I'd go for endocarditis so put on a different antibiotic asap
