I've just seen a 4y FS (neurotic) GSD, presenting with a rather unusual episode of collapse. No known toxin ingestion/scavenging, though does get fed biscuits by a friendly stranger on her morning walk. Had a single episode

Re: Episodic collapse in dogs in Kent?

Right in our clinic area really - West Kingsdown. Another friend of this owner mentioned that she thought other dog owners had had similar signs in their dogs but not all of them had been to a vet! Which woodland were the dogs walking in?

Perhaps the dog may have ingested some sort of mushroom while out?

Re: Episodic collapse in dogs in Kent?

Not sure this dog really fits the picture for SCI though, as there were no GI signs and the weakness/neuro signs were temporary, with the dog returning to normal within 5 hrs. There were reports of clusters of dogs with neurological symptoms some with vomiting and diarrhoea in certain locations distributed through the country, always parks and woods.. AFAIA no-one got to the bottom of it and one of the universities was asking for information in order to investigate the epidemiology.
