The owner has been cleaning with dilute betadine but with no improvement, so I am suspicious it may have progressed to osteomyelitis. What is the preferred first

Re: Leopard Gecko with stomatitis

Hi Mark,

I saw the gecko again today, the original lesion mid- arcade had gone and there was a whitish discharge (not caseous) in R and L fauces, as well as some crusting bilateral nasal discharge. He is now eating on his own (crickets) and getting really cross at having his mouth prodded! I swabbed the white discharge and sent to Pinmore for C and S, but didn't do rads as the jaw doesn't seem to be affected. Also, the tip of his tongue is dark reddish, but I honestly can't say if it was when I saw him originally.

They have him in a viv with 3 temperature zones and moist hide, where he goes and sheds (last shed 2 wks ago). The temperatures were slightly low (21-25 C max) so i've told them to increase. He's fed crickets, dusted with nutrobal. He looks in good body condition.

Thanks,

You can use marbocyl injectable given orally at 10 mg/kg. can you elaborate on the husbandry a bit. Some ibaflin gel on he lesion helps twice daily

Goodluck

Edit and if finances allow a bit of sedation and jaw radiography wouldn't hurt ;-)
