I stand corrected - I admit I had looked in the 2011 NOAH compendium as I couldn't find the latest one....

Just checked on the data sheet with the bottle in dispensary - you're right, it has changed. That one slipped under my radar, very annoying! Any idea why they have decided it now needs disposing of immediately (presumably in purple top bin)?

AFAIK once you crack the bottle its got to be used that day according to the new regs. Its still an alternative but now an expensive one.

We went to a talk by Virbac the other night that suggested the larger dog implants (9.4mg) lasted for 3-4yr on average in ferrets. Not tried it myself yet though.

Hi I would contact virbac for that one. I suppose the only potential issue with the Jill's is that if the recurrence of oestrus is missed a potentially life threatening aplastic anaemia may develop. with the bigger implants you should get at least 2 years I think but you must warn the owner not to just forget about it for the above reason. Cost becomes an issue too with two implants sold to vets for over 100 plus VAT and the fact that they may need to be sedated or gassed down for the implant. Hope this helps.

Hello Some people are using implants instead of speying ferrets. They are not licensed for this purpose so informed consent is required. Others still Spey ferrets. Incidence of HAC last time I checked was 0.5% (1in 200). Ferrets which develop HAC can be treated with implants successfully. Hope this gets you started
