Hoping someone can come up with some suggestions for some Husky puppies that I have just seen.
A Siberian Husky bitch had a litter of 6 pups 8 days ago. Within 12 hours or so the bitch became unwell and was seen at our practice - she was

Re: Alopecia and Ventral Dermatitis in Husky Puppies

OOps!
I'll check on the milk - the owner is a pretty sensible breeder and I'd imagine she is using Welpi but I shall find out.

Some kind of toxin-induced vasculitis - like this idea. The owner described the bitch having a fould smelling vaginal discharge and the pups then having similarly foul smelling faeces, so maybe they have ingested something. In which case, it should resolve now they are on 100% subsitute milk.... unless it is the milk?!

I'll keep you posted.

Re: Alopecia and Ventral Dermatitis in Husky Puppies

What milk are you feeding the puppies? In calves on full fat milk you can get alopecia mostly on the back, which disappears when you take them off the milk. Same thing seen when bringing up a bushbuck kid on goatsmilk.
